When seeking treatment, patients and their families often move back and forth across and within SHA and non-SHA teams and facilities, as such, they often do not differentiate between private physician clinics and SHA clinics/facilities.

The SHA “Our Commitment: Patient Rights and Responsibilities” includes a national scan of patient rights and responsibilities and a cumulative report on the feedback gathered from physicians and staff.  The SMA and CPSS saw benefits in learning from and potentially aligning the SMA’s and CPSS’s efforts with the SHA’s work in this area.

The SMA and CPSS have developed a resource poster for Saskatchewan Physicians to hang in their offices to help patients, physicians and staff understand patient rights and responsibilities. This poster will help physicians navigate disruptive patient behaviours, and an invitation for patients to better understand what is expected of them and their physician.
