Key SMA committees seek physician members

Three key committee of the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) have openings for physician members. Now is your chance to get involved in your SMA. The committee are:

Legislative and Policy Committee

The SMA is seeking a committee chair and up to five other active members willing to serve on its Legislation and Policy Committee. The committee provides oversight and makes recommendations to the SMA’s Board of Directors on local, provincial and national health care legislation and policy, including the CMA Code of Ethics. It is also charged with the responsibility to assist the SMA CEO and make recommendations to the board and SMA staff regarding regulatory investigations, reviews, and procedures.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The SMA is looking to fill a number of vacancies on its Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. The EDI committee provides leadership, guidance, and support to the SMA Board of Directors in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion with the ongoing aim of dismantling biases and discrimination experienced by the medical profession and to model an inclusive profession built on respect for one another.

Specialist Recruitment & Retention Committee

The SMA’s Specialist Recruitment & Retention Committee has an opening for a committee member. This committee provides oversight and makes appropriate recommendations regarding policy issues and funding matters to the SMA Board of Directors and the Minister of Health on the recruitment and retention of specialty physicians. The ideal candidate would be a practising specialist with regional experience and/or residing in the southern part of Saskatchewan.
