Dr. Michael Bishop of Kamsack invested in Saskatchewan Order of Merit
The Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) congratulates Dr. Michael Bishop of Kamsack, who has been invested in the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, the province’s highest honour.
Dr. Bishop, a former SMA board member, is described as a pillar in the community of Kamsack, where he has worked as a physician since emigrating from England in the 1960s. He served as town councillor, played a leading role in fundraising and planning for an expansion of the nursing home in Kamsack, and served residents of the nursing home after retirement. He continues to assist the local health foundation and actively welcomes new physicians to the community.
Dr. Bishop is former senior medical officer with the Sunrise Health Authority, and has been awarded lifetime memberships in the SMA, the Canadian Medical Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. He is a recipient of the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.
