Synergy Mentoring Program looking for physician mentors
The Student-Physician Synergy Mentoring Program at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, is receiving applications from physicians wanting to invest in the next generation of physicians.
The program, entering its third year, pairs a U of S undergraduate medical student with a practicing physician in a formalized mentoring relationship.
"As a mentor not only will you have the opportunity to influence the future of health care, but both research and experience suggest that mentoring relationships lead to increased job satisfaction, a new fond interest in one’s work and self-development. Additionally it is a great opportunity to gain new perspectives and ideas," says Gabriella Mezo, director of career development and mentoring programs at the College of Medicine.
"The mentor-mentee relationship, we hope, will last a lifetime, but we do expect that you commit to maintaining a mentorship with your mentee through their medical school studies. It is about dedicating one hour per month of your time, as a mentor, to an open conversation with your mentee via: one-on-one interaction, Internet communication, phone call or text, etc.," she wrote in a letter to Saskatchewan physicians.
Applications are due Fri., Feb. 12, 2016. You can expect to hear from Gabriella about the match results by early March. The link to the application form is:
